OnyxONYX ProductionHouse X10.1 Media Manager can't find and calibrate the i1 Pro

Publishing date 04-07-2011

After updating several systems from ONYX ProductionHouse X10 to X10.1 I noticed some strange and unwanted behaviour in the media Manager. After successful adding Eye One on USB and clicking Calibrate I get the error:

CMM for ProductionHouse. An error occured. Please make sure the device is connected to the computer and that the correct settings are specified in the setup.

ONYX CMM error

The strange thing is that before the update everything worked fine and after the update the i1 performed without any issues in for example Monaco. I tried installing the most recent i1 drivers from the X-Rite website, installed old drivers that always worked perfectly, downloaded the latest version from www.onyxgfx.com and completely re-installed ONYX ProductionHouse X10.1 but all without any success.

Then I tried something that just popped into my head. I went to Windows Task Manager and killed all the X-Rite, i1 and Isis services and tried again to Calibrate the i1 Pro. Eureka, this worked!

So if you run into this issue you know there is a way around it, but in the mean time I hope ONYX Support is working on my email to get this issue solved asap.
